Kedarnath Temple is one of the most sacred Hindu temples dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is located in the Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand at an altitude of about 3,583 meters in the Garhwal Himalayas. Kedarnath is also one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva and an important part of the Char Dham Yatra.
The Kedarnath Yatra starts from Haridwar, Rishikesh, or Dehradun and continues towards Guptkashi, Sonprayag, and Gaurikund. From Gaurikund, devotees have to trek around 16 km to reach Kedarnath Temple. Pony, palki, and helicopter services are also available for pilgrims.
